I urge you to vote no on Freeport’s withdrawal from Regional School Unit 5. Freeport residents trusted the town of Freeport to prepare objective data about the effects of withdrawal and this did not happen. This biased investigation was staffed by the very group of people who sought withdrawal in the first place.

It’s notable that three former Town Council chairmen have found the cost of withdrawal to taxpayers to be significant, the opposite result of the scenario presented by the withdrawal committee.

Why is the withdrawal committee unable to point the finger at themselves for their concern over the loss of students from the school system? Why are they not able to assume responsibility for throwing the town into a state of flux? Why can they not see that this instability is a direct result of their efforts? I urge you to investigate this further and vote no.
