PORTLAND — A city man was arrested Wednesday by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit for allegedly possessing child pornography.
Marcus Chapman, 42, of 88 Pembroke St., was charged with possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Friday in a news release.
McCausland said an initial examination of Chapman’s computer revealed thousands of stored images of child pornography. He said it appeared none of the victims were from Maine.
Chapman, who McCausland said lives alone near Presumpscot Elementary School and is unemployed, was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland.
