Bargain shopper

12/27/09 at 2:41 p.m. Police responded to a Maine Mall store for a combative shoplifter. Store security reportedly had observed a woman take $190 worth of merchandise, and when they tried to apprehend her, she allegedly assaulted one of the employees in an effort to get away. Following apprehension she was reportedly found in possession of a pair of scissors alleged used during the theft. Sarah Tsika, 33, of Portland was arrested on charges of robbery, endangering the welfare of child and possession of theft transfer device.

Straight, no chaser

12/29/09 at 12:45 a.m. Officer Jeff Levesque observed a vehicle operating erratically on the Casco Bay Bridge. When the officer activated his emergency lights and then his siren, the vehicle slowed but did not pull over for approximately 7/10ths of a mile. Once the vehicle stopped, Paul Schrodt, 61, of South Portland, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence and failure to obey the emergency directions of a police officer.
