A length of crime scene tape provided the ribbon for area police chiefs and law enforcement officials who opened the new Metropolitan Regional Crime Lab on Wednesday at the Portland Police Department. The $1.5 million forensics lab will be used by officers from Cape Elizabeth, Falmouth, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland, Westbrook, Windham, Yarmouth and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department. The chiefs are joined by Maine Attorney General Janet Mills, right.
