BRUNSWICK — Coffin Elementary School Teacher Kathy Dekker received a nearly $800 grant from Donors Choose, a national public school classroom charity, to fully fund a proposed special education project.
The money will buy six bean-bag chairs that offer more “sensory input” and “postural support” than normal hard plastic chairs, according to the grant application.
Dekker’s proposal was funded on “Best School Day,” March 10, when actress and Maine native Anna Kendrick unexpectedly donated to all 31 classroom projects proposed across Maine.
