VASSALBORO — Residents of Freeport and Topsham, and a Brunswick police officer, were among those honored Tuesday, June 7, at the annual Maine State Police awards ceremony, held at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

Jason Forgues of Freeport and Paul Oleston of Topsham received special awards of commendation. They rescued a man in April from his burning truck in Freeport.

Brunswick Police Detective William Moir, Maine State Police Sgt. Chris Rogers and Trooper Jared Stedman received colonel’s awards. They arrested a man who allegedly scammed more than 50 people from Maine to Florida out of nearly $500,000 for firewood never delivered, and excavation work never completed.
