On the evening of Dec. 2, South Portland’s Mill Creek Park was filled with the sounds, scents, and visions of the holidays. Hundreds of residents enjoyed the clip-clopping of Stillbrook Acres’ four big draft horses as they pulled farm wagons full of riders through the streets; the aroma of hot chocolate, cider and hot dogs wafting from the concession tables; Santa handing out candy canes in City Hall, and the amazing voices of the middle and high school chorus students soaring throughout the park. The annual HolidayFest Tree Lighting celebration was a fabulous success, thanks once again to all the partners who came together to make it happen.

At 6 p.m. the lights came on all throughout the park – 5 miles of lights – to the cheers of the delighted crowd.

Organizing partners the city of South Portland; the South Portland Parks, Recreation, and Waterfront Department; the South Portland School Department, and the South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber of Commerce would like to thank our enthusiastic sponsors, without whose generous support the event would not be possible.

We extend our deepest appreciation to everyone for helping make our community an amazing place to live, work, go to school and play.

Jane Eberle, president
South Portland/Cape Elizabeth Community Chamber of Commerce
