With so much success in so many sports this fall, it’s no surprise to learn that local athletes had quite a presence on postseason all-star teams.

Here’s a recap:

Football

The Southwestern Maine Activities Association Class A South All-Conference football first-team offense included quarterback Zoltan Panyi, running back Owen Garrard, tight end Reece Lagerquist, wide receiver Cody Dudley and center Ben Hughes of Class A state champion Scarborough, along with South Portland kicker Zack Johnson.

The second-team featured Scarborough running back Jarret Flaker and linemen Alex Bryer and Anthony Griffin and South Portland running back Spencer Houlette.

The SMAA Class A South All-Conference first-team defense included Scarborough end Anthony Griffin and South Portland tackle Nick Penney, linebacker Brad Seigars and back Spencer Houlette.

Scarborough tackle Alex Bryer, linebackers Owen Garrard and Reece Lagerquist and backs Cody Dudley, Jaquan Seme and Jeremy Sendrowski, along with South Portland punter Zack Johnson, were named to the second-team.

The Dave Allen Award, given to the league’s Most Valuable Player, went to Scarborough’s Owen Garrard.

Scarborough’s Lance Johnson was given the Mike Landry Coach of the Year Award.

The Campbell Conference Class C all-star team featured Jacob Brydson, Lou Daukas, Jack Glanville, Andrew Hartel, Luc Houle and Ryan Weare of Class C South champion Cape Elizabeth.

Cape Elizabeth’s Nathan Labrie qualified for the Campbell Conference All-Academic team.

Boys’ soccer

The SMAA boys’ soccer All-Conference first-team featured four players from regular season league champion South Portland: senior forward Kyle Patterson, senior midfielder Charlie Cronin, junior back Aleks Kaurin and senior goalkeeper Riley Hasson.

The second-team included Scarborough senior forward Marco Manfra, senior midfielder Alex Dobecki and senior back Nick Anderson.

Scarborough senior forward Brandon Wasser and senior goalkeeper Morgan Pratt were named honorable mentions.

South Portland’s Riley Ellis and Jack Vose-Gimbel qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

South Portland’s Charlie Cronin was named SMAA Offensive Player of the Year.

South Portland’s Riley Hasson was chosen SMAA Defensive Player of the Year.

South Portland’s Bryan Hoy was named SMAA Coach of the Year.

In the Western Maine Conference, the Class B boys’ all-star team featured Cape Elizabeth seniors Sean Agrodnia, Matt Concannon and David Hare and junior John O’Connor.

Scarborough’s Nick Anderson and South Portland’s Charlie Cronin, Riley Hasson and Kyle Patterson were named to the Class A South regional all-star team.

Cape Elizabeth’s John O’Connor was selected for the Class B South regional squad.

Greater Portland Christian School’s Mason Jones was named to the Class D South regional team.

Girls’ soccer

On the girls’ side, in the SMAA, the All-Conference first-team included Scarborough senior forward Gaby Panagakos, senior midfielder Lauren Sabatino, senior defender Ellie Patten and junior defender Sophia Martens and South Portland senior midfielder Juliana Selser.

Scarborough junior midfielder Molly Murnane and senior goalkeeper Emily Royce were named to the second-team.

South Portland sophomore goalkeeper Maria Buck was an honorable mention.

South Portland’s Sophia Chase, Madison Cyr, Paige Fleming, Madison Plummer and Juliana Selser qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Gaby Panagakos was named SMAA Offensive Player of the Year.

Scarborough’s Mike Farley was chosen SMAA Coach of the Year.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth’s Olivia Cochran, Grace Gillian and Tory McGrath made the Class B all-star team.

Scarborough’s Molly Murnane, Ellie Patten, Gaby Panagakos, Emily Royce and Lauren Sabatino and South Portland’s Juliana Selser were named to the Class A South regional all-star team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Grace Gillian and Prezli Piscopo were chosen for the Class B South regional squad.

Field hockey

Scarborough was the lone local field hockey team to make the playoffs this year and the Red Storm placed seniors Lucy Malia and Rachel Paradis on the SMAA All-Conference first-team.

Scarborough senior Lucy Bogdanovich and South Portland senior Bonge Lako were named to the second-team.

Honorable mentions included Scarborough junior Caitlin Tyrrell and South Portland sophomore Lydia Grant.

Scarborough sophomore Carrie Timpson and South Portland freshman Lucie Beaulieu were named their team’s Rookie of the Year.

Scarborough’s Lucy Malia shared the Faith Littlefield Award with Thornton Academy’s Taylor Ouellette.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth senior Katie Bozek made the second-team and also qualified for the All-Academic team.

Scarborough’s Lucy Malia was also selected for the South region All-State team.

Volleyball

Forecaster Country was the epicenter of the volleyball world this fall, as Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough won state championships and South Portland made it to the state final.

The SMAA All-Conference first-team featured Scarborough’s Asia Mattress and Natalie Simonton and South Portland’s Molly Mawhinney.

Scarborough’s Caelyn Sheil and South Portland’s Kaleisha Towle made the second-team.

Scarborough’s Ivy DiBiase and South Portland’s Ashlee Aceto were honorable mentions.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth’s Maggie Dadmun, Tess Dolan and Megan Connelly made the first-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Anne Torre was named to the second-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Madison Sarka was an honorable mention selection.

Cross country

Scarborough sophomores Connor Coffin and Tristram Coffin both qualified for the SMAA boys’ cross country All-Conference first-team.

Scarborough senior Luke Grover and South Portland senior Zachary Dyer were honorable mentions.

South Portland’s Joshua Hyssong and Lionel Whitehead qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

In the WMC, Cape Elizabeth’s Jack Bassett made the first-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Arsen Scheindel qualified for the second-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Anthony Inhorn and Henry Menz qualified for the WMC All-Academic team.

On the girls’ side, in the SMAA, Scarborough senior Bethany Sholl made the All-Conference second-team.

Scarborough’s Samantha Saraceno and South Portland’s Madison Smith were honorable mentions.

Scarborough’s Bethany Sholl qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

In the WMC, Division One league champion Cape Elizabeth placed Lily Gaudrault and Camilla Grosson on the first-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Mary Cate Hayes and Kelsey Kennedy made the second-team.

Cape Elizabeth’s Adeline Hayes, Grace Roberts and Fiona Simpson qualified for the WMC All-Academic team.

Golf

After another strong year on the links, Anthony Burnham and Ethan Mason of Class A state champion Scarborough were named to the SMAA Northern Division first-team.

Scarborough’s Cam Chamberlain and Ian Trumpler made the second-team.

Scarborough’s Elizabeth Lacognata, the girls’ individual state champion, made the SMAA girls’ all-star team.

South Portland’s Daniel Mickiewicz and Aidan Schifano qualified for the SMAA All-Academic team.

In the Western Maine Conference, Class B state champion Cape Elizabeth placed Max Altznauer, Ryan Collins and individual champion Austin Legge on the all-star team.

Legge was named WMC Player of the Year.

Cape Elizabeth won the WMC Class B team title.
