Rod and Gun Club past president mourned
Longtime Durham Rod and Gun Club member and past president Katherine Lane, 62, died on Aug. 23 at her home in Durham.
Lane was a longtime contributing member club, a longtime volunteer instructor for hunter safety with the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Safety Division, as well as an avid outdoorswomen She will be missed by many and remembered by her infectious laughter.
Join the Cub Scouts
Cub Scout Pack 145 will hold an informational night for interested boys and their parents at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept.13, at the Durham Amvets Hall.

Financial Peace University coming to town
Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University is coming to Durham’s Shiloh Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 9. Class is from 6:30-8 p.m. and child care will be provided. Contact Katie Ballou at 319-9161 to register or for more information.
Town office hours
The town office is open Mondays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The office is closed for lunch from noon-1 p.m. and all day on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call 353-2561.

Masonic Lodge bean supper
The Masonic Lodge, located on Route 136 across from the River Park, will be hosting a public bean supper on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 4:30-6 p.m. The menu includes baked beans, chop suey, hot dogs, potato salad, cole slaw, bread, pickles and homemade pies. The cost is $7.50 for adults, $3 for kids ages 5-12 and kids under 5 eat free.
Nomination papers available for selectman’s seat
Nomination papers are now available for residents who are interested in finishing out the term of Philip Glickson on the Durham Board of Selectmen. The seat became open at the end of June when Glickson resigned for personal reasons. The term will expire in April 2014. Papers need to be completed and filed with the town clerk on or before Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m.

Town seeking board members
The Durham planning and appeals boards are seeking new members to be appointed. There are also openings on the Scholarship and Eureka committees. If interested, stop by the Durham Town Office and fill out a committee application, or for more information, call 353-2561, ext. 10.

Community Center for rent
The Durham Eureka Community Center is available to rent for small groups of 50 or less. The building is great for showers, birthday gatherings and meetings. Lisbon Area Christian Outreach
The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.
The physical address for food and clothing is the Marion T. Morse Community Center, enter from the Berry Avenue side behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The clothing bank cannot accept furniture, appliances, etc., as they do not have the room to store them. For more, call Debbie at 240-1637.
