WELLS — The Hope Hobbs Gazebo at Wells Harbor Park will be the place to be to hear the music of the Strafford Wind Symphony, a popular group of wind ensemble musicians presenting a wonderful mix of patriotic and traditional “Community Band” music later this month.

The free concert will be performed from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29 and launches the 2019 Wells Harbor Concert Series, with all 10 concerts free and open to the public. The concerts take place at the scenic Wells Harbor Park in the Hope Hobbs Gazebo (in the event of rain they will be moved a short distance to the Ward Gym at Wells Jr. High School on US Route 1). The concerts are weekly through Aug. 31

The Strafford Wind Symphony is a 55-member ensemble made up of a cross section of community members dedicated to presenting wonderful music with a professional flair.  They perform for the experience of playing music with other talented wind musicians and to bring their passion for wind instrumentation to audiences all over New Hampshire, Southern Maine and parts of Massachusetts.

Their presentation is for young and old alike with a blend of crowd-pleasing traditional music mixed with heart thumping patriotic tunes.  They believe music is a gift which can enlighten, educate, entertain and bring joy to all and look forward to making their audience believers too. This is a wonderful way to get into spirit of the 4th of July and spend a summer evening harbor side in Maine.

The full-concert series features well known, professional musicians who present various types of music for people of all ages. There is plenty of free parking or take the Wells Trolley directly to the park.

Admission is free (contributions accepted), the Knights of Columbus sells refreshments, and there is abundant park bench type seating. Audience members can also bring their own blanket, folding chair and/or a picnic.
