GORHAM — The Massabesic field hockey team stayed undefeated on the season with a close 2-1 win over Gorham on Thursday.
Neither team established a rhythm early on, and it took until the 11:11 mark in the first half for a score, when Lacey Bean put the Mustangs up 1-0.
Gorham responded midway through the second half when Molly Barr put away the game-tying score to make it 1-1. Logan Champlin responded with the game-winner with 10:11 left in regulation, and the Mustangs held off the Rams attack to secure the win.
Jessica Desseault recorded 10 saves on the day.
Cheverus 3, Thornton 1
The Stags would grind out a 3-1 win over Thornton Academy on Thursday.
Cheverus would get two goals in the first half to take the early 2-0 advantage.
Although TA got a score in the second from Abby Pomerleau, it was not enough as Cheverus added one more and took the win.
Jenica Botting racked up eight saves for the Trojans.
Sanford 4, Windham 1
The Spartans picked up a 4-1 against Windham on Thursday.
Sanford jumped out to a 2-0 lead early, getting scores from Phoebe Joy and Kyleigh Cote. Cote would add two more scores in the second to complete the hat trick.
Amber Singleton made 15 stops in the cage for Sanford.
Girls golf
Kennebunk 7.5, Gorham 3.5
Kennebunk girls golf team topped visiting Gorham 7.5-3.5 at Webhannet Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.
Emma Flores led Kennebunk with a match-low 55, while Sammy Murray was close behind with 58, and Hannah Liautaud a 59. Lily Mcmahon shot a 64 as well.
