Thank you for the wonderful article in the Sunday Telegram on the Maine State High School Instrumental Jazz Festival (“Maine high school jazz bands feel the beat and the competitive heat,” March 16).
So often the fine and performing arts students are not given the recognition they deserve.
The hard work and long hours of practice these kids put into their art, both at home and at school, needs to be commended. These are talents and skills they will take with them throughout their lives.
We also need to give a big “thank you” to the teachers who spend endless hours in school, after school and on weekends teaching and encouraging these students.
The time and effort it takes to put a statewide festival together are tremendous.
Where would any of our lives be without music and art?
