LEBANON – An early-morning car crash on Prospect Hill Road left two passengers hospitalized and rescue crews searching for the driver and another passenger, both of whom apparently fled the scene.
“When we arrived, we located two (others) still on the scene,” said Jason Cole, assistant chief of Lebanon Rescue and the first responder to arrive, in a prepared statement. “A witness had seen at least one other (person) leave the scene before we (arrived).”
Cole said the passengers – a man and woman, both 22-year-old residents of Lebanon – reported four occupants inside the late-model Ford Focus before the single-vehicle accident, which happened at approximately 2:20 a.m. on a sharp curve near 135 Prospect Hill Rd.
Traveling east, the vehicle left the road, struck a boulder and landed over an embankment on a nearby lawn. Rescuers arrived to find the man and woman both unconcious and in the roadway.
The man was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H. The woman was taken by ambulance to Milton Elementary School, then by helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Crews searched the scene without success for other occupants. The York County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
The car was totaled.
