BIDDEFORD — Robert J. Cantara, 84, of Biddeford died on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018 at Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1934 to Henry and Florida (Poulin) Cantara in Biddeford. He was educated in local schools and attended Biddeford High School.

He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked at various places, including WestPoint Pepperell, NKL Tanning, Biddeford Textile and Lucas Tree. He loved his family, as he and his siblings got older, he helped take care of his sisters. He enjoyed listening to old country music and watching western movies.

He is preceded in death by seven siblings Irene Cantara, Theodore Cantara, Raymond Cantara, Conrad Cantara, Germaine Pepin and twin baby brothers.

Robert is survived by two sisters Doris Couture of Saco and Theresa Cote of Biddeford and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at Hope Memorial Chapel 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday Feb. 9 at St. Anne’s Chapel at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford.

Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel.
