RICHMOND — Richmond jumped out to a 23-4 in the opening quarter en route to a 65-29 Mountain Valley Conference win over Telstar on Tuesday.

The Bobcats ended a seven-game losing streak, improving to 2-9 on the season.

Richmond led 35-16 at the half and 52-24 after three.

Kenny Bing had a double-double for the Bobcats, putting in 13 points and pulling down 14 rebounds with three assists. Nick Adams added 13 points and Mason Blake 12.

Davin Mason picked up 13 points for the Rebels.

At the line, Richmond went 7-of-11 and Telstar 4-of-12.

The Bobcats visit Wiscasset on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The host Wildcats had a solid opening half for a Class A South win over the Shipbuilders, who fell to 3-8 and visit Medomak Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.

York (10-1) led 23-13, 40-21 and 56-33 at the quarter breaks.

Brady Cummins led a balanced York attack with 15 points, followed by Riley Linn with 11, Evan Bourgoine with nine and Riley Henriques with eight.

Tom Warren and Josh ter Mors each scored 19 for Morse, which was 6-of-10 at the line.

Wiscasset 39

Dirigo 78

Jeremy St. Germain scored 23 points, including 12 in the third quarter, to help the host Cougars (4-6) run past the Wolverines (1-10) in MVC action at Dixfield.

Dirigo held a 38-15 lead at halftime and poured it on in the third with 28 points. Alex Gorham had 13 points and Mateo Lapointe 12.

Josh Gabriele led Wiscasset with 11 points.

The Wolverines are slated to host Richmond on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Girls basketball

CAPE ELIZABETH — Caroline Smith and Rachel Wall split 20 points down the middle as Freeport picked up a 33-30 Western Maine Conference win over Cape Elizabeth.

The Falcons (9-2) shook off a slow start and played well defensively in dropping the Capers to 5-6.

Cape Elizabeth led 10-6 after a quarter, but Freeport claimed a 17-16 halftime lead. The Capers regained a slim edge, 24-23, after three.

Hannah Groves picked up seven big points for the Falcons, who were 6-of-13 at the free-throw line.

Brooke Harvey scored a game-high 15 points for Cape Elizabeth.

Freeport hosts Yarmouth on Friday at 7 p.m.

The visiting Dragons received 13 points from Rosalie White en route to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Bulldogs at Fairfield.

Brunswick is 10-1 and visits Leavitt on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.

Logan Brown chipped in nine points in the win, with Charlotte MacMillan picking up eight points and Marley Groat seven.

Lawrence (6-4) was led by 15 points from Megan Curtis.

The visiting Wildcats scored 23 first-quarter points and never looked back for a Class A South win over Morse at Bath Middle School.

Morse (0-11) trailed 23-5, 34-17 and 54-25 at the quarter breaks.

Kaylee Garland led the Shipbuilders, who host Medomak Valley on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., with seven points.
