FREEPORT — Cat Gould tallied her third hat trick of the season to power the Freeport High School girls soccer team to a 5-1 Western Maine Conference win over Wells on Thursday.

The Falcons improved to 3-2-2 and visits St. Dom’s on Saturday (10 a.m.).

Allison Greuel gave Freeport a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game. Gould doubled the lead before the Warriors scored their lone goal, with Hannah Cottis finishing.

Rachel Wall converted a corner kick to restore the two-goal Freeport lead, and Gould closed the half with her second, making for a 4-1 halftime score.

Gould completed her hat trick with 4:21 remaining in the game.

Freeport held a 28-5 shot advantage. Leah Rusiecki turned away three shots in the Falcon cage.

Hampden 1
Brunswick 5

Five players scored one goal each as the host Dragons rolled to a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Hampden Academy.

Brunswick is unbeaten (6-0-1) heading into Tuesday’s game at Oxford Hills (6 p.m.).

Anna Kousky, Emma Banks, Alexis Guptil, Bailey Hartill and Mia DeSantis had one goal apiece, while Emily Larochelle, Isabella Banks, Kousky and Alex Bunker added one assist each.

Aisley Snell turned away three shots in the Brunswick cage, while Broncos keeper Libby Hughes made 13 saves.

Mt. Ararat 2
Oxford Hills 3

Cecelia Dieterich scored all three goals as Oxford Hills edged Mt. Ararat in KVAC play at South Paris.

The Vikings (4-2-1) and Eagles (3-3) kept pace with each other throughout. The contest was tied 1-1 at the half.

Reese Turcotte put the Eagles on the board first, and assisted on Erin Harty’s second-half tally.

Goalie Abby Sirois made 11 saves for Mt. Ararat, while Jillian Douglas repelled eight to earn the win in net for Oxford Hills.

Mt. Ararat visits Hampden Academy on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Medomak Valley struck for two first-half goals and held off the Shipbuilders in a hard fought physical game for a KVAC victory in Bath.

Maddy White and Sadie Cohen each found the net in the opening half, beating Morse keeper Abby Sreden (eight saves) for the Medomak Valley (5-1-2) scores.

Julia Cliffe cut the deficit in half when she scored midway through the second frame from a Macie Gagne helper.

Panthers goalie Kayla Donlin turned away five shots in the victory.

Morse (2-4-1) hosts Lincoln Academy (3-3) on Tuesday at McMann Field at 5 p.m.

WELLS — Jesse Bennell scored a hat trick and Shea Wagner added another as Freeport captured a 4-1 WMC win over Wells.

The Falcons are 5-1-2 ahead of its Saturday home game with Traip Academy (11:30 a.m.).

Wells fell to 0-7.

Atticus Patrick turned away five shots in the Freeport net.

Lisbon 0

Josh Nadeau and Alec Byron each scored four goals as the visiting Bulldogs ended Lisbon’s three-game winning streak in Mountain Valley Conference action.

Byron also had an assist for the unbeaten Bulldogs (7-0). Akira Warren set up a team-high two goals.

Greyhounds (3-4) goalie Sean Moore made four saves.

Lisbon will look to rebound on Monday at Wiscasset/Boothbay (4 p.m.).

The host Shipbuilders earned their second win (2-4-2) with a KVAC victory over Medomak Valley at McMann Field.

Jack Komilov and Jacob Brochu scored for Morse. Isaac Flaming assisted on both goals, while netminder Miles Bobbe turned away 12 shots, including a pair of big stops down the stretch to preserve the win.

Brandon Starr scored for the Panthers.

The Shipbuilders return to action on Tuesday at home against Lincoln Academy (7 p.m.).

Field hockey

BANGOR — Bangor rallied for a 3-2 KVAC win over Mt. Ararat.

The Eagles (5-3) will look to end a three-game slide on Tuesday at home against Edward Little (4 p.m.).

Brea Holtet scored both goals for Mt. Ararat, with an assist each going to Holly Temple and Wyley Fitzpatrick.

Lily Schenk and Emma Lapreziosa combined for four saves in the loss.

Belfast 5

Vanessa St. Pierre scored the lone goal for the Shipbuilders in a KVAC loss at Belfast.

Morse (4-3) goaltender Rebecca Chick had a solid game, turning away several Lion shots.

The Shipbuilders visit Lincoln Academy on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Rylee Poulin manufactured three goals and two assists to lead Messalonskee to a KVAC victory over Brunswick at Thomas College in Waterville.

The Eagles took a 3-0 lead into the break. Autumn Littlefield scored a pair of goals on Poulin assists, while assisting on Poulin’s two first-half goals.

Kelsey Sullivan scored on a relay from Shea Sullivan at the 23:54 mark of the second half for the Dragons to spoil the shutout.

Messalonskee outshot Brunswick, 34-9, in the winning effort.

Christina Dargie and Ashley Carney each scored a second-half goal as the Wildcats (7-2) defeated the Falcons at York in WMC play.

Dargie scored with 22 minutes remaining from Sage Works, and Carney added a goal seven minutes later.

Juliana Kiklis made 11 saves to preserve the shutout.

Freeport fell to 6-2 and visits Yarmouth on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
