Where does M.D. Harmon really stand on breaking the law?
In the first sentence of his column last week (“Nevada cattle rancher shouldn’t be treated like a terrorist,” April 25), he describes Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy as a “scofflaw,” but then writes six columns of type to answer his own question: “How lawless is Bundy?”
Cliven Bundy owes the taxpayers of America more than $1 million in unpaid taxes. Every court has ruled against him, yet his response is to encourage an armed posse to aim weapons at Bureau of Land Management officers.
Bundy said in a radio interview, “I don’t recognize the United States government as even existing.” While this is going on, thousands of other ranchers throughout the West work hard and pay their taxes.
The answer to Mr. Harmon’s question is that Cliven Bundy is 100 percent, unapologetically, lawless.
