PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The federal Transportation Security Administration says its agents have been finding a growing number of credit-card knives at inspection checkpoints, including in Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
The TSA describes a credit-card knife as a weapon that fits in a wallet and is slightly thicker than a credit card. The blade either unfolds or pulls out into a knife.
The agency said late Friday that agents discovered 61 credit-card knives at checkpoints this week, including two at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island, and one at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The TSA says some passengers simply forget that they have credit-card knives after tucking them in their wallets.
The agency reminds travelers to check their bags and other belongings for prohibited items before going to the airport.
