LISBON — St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church is offering a free women’s seminar, “The Value of Suffering,” led by author Julie Caton on March 31 from 9:30 a.m. until noon.

Child care is available upon request.

“The Word has many promises about the value of trials. Through this interactive study of Scripture we will explore how the suffering we Christians do is related to our growing awareness of the inheritance we have in Christ,” said Caton.

Caton, a graduate of Smith College and later the University of Buffalo, is a clinical psychologist who has worked in western New York for three decades. She is the author of the historical novel, “ White Heart,” and “ Poems of a Wondering Soul.”

She is a member of Oakfield Alabama Baptist Church in New York, was raised by Episcopalian/Presbyterian parents, and is a mother of two grown children and a 5-year-old granddaughter.

A free lunch is also included and reservations can be made by contacting the church at 353-8453 or stmattlisb@gwi.net.

The church is located on the hill off Route 196. For more information, visit www.StMatthewsLisbon.org.
