Cumberland County Sheriff Mark Dion has some aches and and pains but no serious injuries following a collision Monday afternoon in Portland.
Dion was driving the county-owned sheriff’s vehicle, a 2008 Chevrolet, from St. John Street across Brighton Avenue when the car collided with a 2000 GMC pickup driven by Clement Voyer, 70.
Witnesses told police Dion was stopped at the signal light at 4:30 p.m. and proceeded when the light turned green. Voyer drove through a red light and was issued a citation for it, police said.
Voyer was not injured. Dion had pain in his knee and was evaluated at the hospital but released, he said. He is at work today. Both men were wearing seatbelts.
