With final vote totals reported Wednesday, challenger David Woodsome defeated incumbent John Tuttle with 59 percent of the votes for the Maine Senate District 33 seat.
Democrat Tuttle, 63, is an emergency medical technician from Sanford. Republican Woodsome, 68, is a retired teacher from Waterboro.
The district includes Sanford, Shapleigh, Waterboro, Cornish, Limerick, Newfield and Parsonsfield.
