On Monday, I was part of a funeral procession in Portland, and I was appalled at the ignorance and utter lack of respect on the part of some of the drivers we encountered in our procession.
From Jones-Rich-Hutchins Funeral Home in Portland to St. Peter’s Church in Portland and from the church to Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, I cannot tell you how many people either cut in front of the procession or ignored it altogether.
I am pleading with all drivers’ education classes to instruct their students in the proper etiquette when there is a procession.
If you see a line of cars with their headlights on, their flashers blinking and flags on their cars that say “Funeral,” pull over and don’t be so ignorant. Have some respect!
