Crews and equipment from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection are being sent to help clean up the massive BP oil spill.
BP has hired six people and two skimmer boats to help contain the spill. The crews had been on standby for two months.
The crews will start work on Saturday and work in rotation for six months.
The department has also sent a mapping expert and two miles of oil containment boom to help with the spill that has spewed oil into the Gulf off the Louisiana coast since the Deepwater Horizon oil drilling rig exploded in April.
