Bangor police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old girl after they were called Wednesday morning to a home on Center Street.
Sgt. Tim Cotton said police are required by state law to investigate all deaths of children age 3 and younger in Maine.
“At this point in the investigation, the medical examiner’s office will be the point of contact as we await the cause and manner of death,” Cotton said Wednesday night in an email. “From our standpoint and at this time, there is nothing to make us believe that this death is suspicious in any way.”
Police are not releasing any other information about the child’s death.
