Snow in late April? It’s real and it’s happening.
Occasional snowflakes have been spotted Tuesday morning in York and Cumberland counties, but don’t expect it to amount to anything.
“I’m not convinced anything is going to stick to the ground,” said meteorologist Andy Pohl of the National Weather Service in Gray. “It’s not going to be heavy enough long enough to do much.”
It was snowing in southern New Hampshire by 8 a.m. Tuesday, with about 8/10 of an inch reported in Tamworth, Pohl said. The weather service also reported snow in Fryeburg.
Pohl said precipitation will end between 4 and 6 p.m., making way for a dry stretch of weather. By Wednesday, temperatures will climb into the low 50s and there should be plenty of sun.
Monday is the next day that Portland could experience precipitation.
