2016 was the hottest year - again. So, how hot was Portland?

Scientists declared 2016 the hottest year on record. (We're on a roll with three straight record-breaking years.)

The average worldwide temperature was 58.69 degrees, 1.69 degrees above average, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Portland basked in the warmth with average monthly temperatures above normal for 10 of 12 months (April and December were cold!).

With help from the National Weather Service we compiled Portland’s monthly maximum high, minimum low and average temperatures for the past three years in an attempt to answer the question "Just how hot was it?"
