LD 1428 - An Act To Protect Religious Freedom
This bill, sponsored by Sen. David Burns, R-Whiting, enables a person to sue the government if they believe it has taken an action that abridges their freedom of religion, unless the government can show that its actions are the least restrictive way to accomplishing a major public good. The House and Senate both voted to accept a committee’s “ought not to pass” report, and the bill is now dead.
