Alexander Colville, Valedictorian, is the son of Sherry and Cliff Colville. Alex was the founder of the Science Bowl Club, the treasurer of Model United Nations, first chair tenor saxophone of the jazz ensemble for two years, a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club, and ECOS. He was the captain of both the varsity golf and ski teams. Honors and/or awards that Alex has received in high school include the Harvard Book Award, AP Scholar Award, all-conference for skiing in the Southwestern Maine Activities Association, and all-academic teams for both varsity skiing and golf. Alex Colville will be attending Northeastern University in the fall to study chemical/biological engineering.
P. Ryan Mancini, Salutatorian, is the son of Philip and Colleen Mancini. Ryan is a recipient of both the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and the University of Rochester Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology. He is a member of the National Honor Society and the Southwestern Maine Activities Association All Academic Team. Ryan has served as class secretary and band secretary and was a four year player on the baseball and soccer teams. Pursuing a career in international business, Ryan will attend Bowdoin College in the Fall where he has been recruited to play Varsity baseball.
Seth Albert is the son of Denise Clavette and Kurt Albert. Seth was a prominent member of the Academic Decathlon team, competing at the national competition three years. He earned a silver medal in mathematics as a sophomore, and as a senior earned a second silver medal and bronze medals in interview and Super Quiz events. Seth was on Math Team, Student Congress Debate Team, in the Model United Nations club, and volunteered in numerous activities. Seth also participated in tennis three years, and qualified for states in indoor track in the pole vault. Seth will be attending the University of Maine, in the Honors College, to study Chemical Engineering
Christina Michele Bilodeau is the daughter of Debra and David Bilodeau. Christina plays the alto saxophone for the SHS Wind Ensemble; she has volunteered at Maine Medical Center, and she was a member of the Key Club. During all 4 years of high school she participated in the volleyball and tennis programs serving as a captain of both teams her senior year. She has also participated in girlâÂÂs varsity ice hockey, alpine ski racing, and club beach/indoor volleyball. Christina was the recipient of the George Eastman Young LeaderâÂÂs Award. Christina will be reporting to the United States Coast Guard Academy this summer and plans on majoring in engineering
Carolyn Bennett is the daughter of Catherine and Mark Bennett. She has participated in softball, indoor track and soccer. She was also a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society, the math team, and the outing club. With the Gym Dandies, she volunteered as a mentor and instructor for younger performers. Carolyn will be attending Colby College in the fall.
MacKenzie Bowker is the daughter of Sue and Bob Bowker. MacKenzie was a member of ECOS, Key Club, Outing Club, and National Honor Society. She volunteered over 100 hours as part of the Maine Medical Junior Volunteer Program. During her four years of high school, MacKenzie participated in soccer, volleyball, and lacrosse. She was one of three captains of the volleyball team her senior year and was chosen to play on the Maine All-Star team at the end of the season. MacKenzie received an Art Purchase Award her junior year, as well as a Society of Women Engineers Certificate. MacKenzie will be attending the University of Vermont in the fall with a major in neuroscience
Zachary Brown is the son of Greg and Tracey Brown. Zachary was a member of the National Honor Society as well as the Key Club. During all four years of high school he participated in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track, serving as co-captain of each team during his senior year. Honors that Zachary has received in high school include Honor Roll, Coach's Award, and All Academic. Zachary will be attending Norwich University in the fall.
Becca Carifio is the daughter of Michael and Melissa Carifio. Becca was captain of the Lincoln Douglas debate team and a member of National Honor Society, Environmental Club of Scarborough and Art Club. She was first in the state for Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate as a sophomore, and a state finalist this year at the varsity level. Becca has volunteered as a student instructor for the Gym Dandies ChildrenâÂÂs Circus at Wentworth Intermediate School. She will be attending Bates College in the fall.
Henry Chen is the son of Lingxia Yin and Enchi Chen. Henry will be attending Cornell University in the fall.
Abigail (Abby) Chick is the daughter of Lee Chick and Lisa Letourneau. Abby was fortunate to enjoy success in both her academic and co-curricular activities at Scarborough High School, and participated in several organizations including the Key Club, National Honor Society, Model UN, and Outing Club, which she founded at SHS in 2009. She is a three-season athlete and participated in the Cross-Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Track programs, and served as co-captain of all three teams her senior year. She was the recipient of the Cornell Book Award, and will be attending Middlebury College in Vermont in the fall.
Andrew Cohen is the son of Ellen Flaherty and Mark Cohen. Andrew was a delegate at the Model UN and was a member of the Mock Trial team. During all four years he volunteered at various local hospitals, was a Maine Medical Center student explorer, and played on the soccer team for three years. Andrew received Maxima Cum Laude on the National Latin exam his junior and senior year. In the fall, he will attend Connecticut College as a Biology major.
Scott Delisle is the son of Mark and Susanne Delisle. Scott Delisle was Treasurer of the Class of 2011 and a member of the Scarborough Key Club, the Environmental Club of Scarborough, the National Honor Society, and the Outing Club. He participated in Scarborough High School varsity swimming and the Jazz Ensemble for all four years. Honors and awards that Scott Delisle has received in high school include National Merit Finalist, Presidential Scholar Candidate, Varsity Letter, Eagle Scout, and AP Scholar. Scott Delisle will be attending Tufts University to study engineering in the fall.
Charlie Doe is the son of Michael and Paula Doe. Charlie is a member of the National Honor Society, Student- Principal Advisory Committee, and volunteered as a youth basketball coach throughout his high school years. He is a four year member of the lacrosse team, serving as captain his senior year. Charlie plans to attend Quinnipiac University in the fall, majoring in education.
Matthew Eaton is the son of James and Darlene Eaton. Matt was a member of the National Honor Society, as well as a lighting and sound technician for the Auditorium. During all four years of high school he participated on the tech side of the One Act Play and the Oak Hill Players Musical, serving as student assistant director his senior year for OHP. Honors and awards that Matt has received in high school include being a Commended Student in the 2011 National Merit Program, as well as receiving the MPA Principal's Award for 2011. Matt will be attending the University of New England in the fall for Secondary Education â Mathematics
Kristen Felt is the daughter of Robert and Connie Felt. Kristen was a member of the National Honor Society, math team, French club and student council. During all four years she participated in the Varsity Field Hockey Program, serving as a tri-captain her senior year. Honors and/or awards that Kristen has received in high school include; SMAA 1st Team All Star, Faith Littlefield Award for the MVP of the SMAA League, 1st team All State, selected to the Portland Press Herald All State Team, Miss Maine Field Hockey winner, NFHCA Northeast Region All American, NFHCA all Academic Team, SMAA All Academic Team, 2009 Field Hockey State Champion, AP Scholar.
Danielle Foster is the daughter of Paul & Lise Foster. Danielle was class Vice President for 3 years and a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, and received the Yale Book Award. She played lacrosse all four years and also participated in basketball, & indoor track. Danielle placed 3rd in her class and plans on attending Northeastern University in Boston after taking a gap year to do missionary work in Australia
Connor Gullifer is the son of Bruce Gullifer and Kathy Tyson. He participated in Lacrosse, Soccer and Hockey, serving as co-captain of the hockey team his senior year. He was named to All State Class A Hockey teams for both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. He was also named to the All Academic teams during his senior year for both Soccer and Hockey, as well as receiving the coaches award for Hockey in 2011. Connor will be attending Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston this fall.
Bridget Hicks is the daughter of Gary and Mary Ellen Hicks. Bridget was involved in school, club, and beach volleyball all throughout high school, serving as the captain of the Varsity and Club team her senior year making the All-Academic team and receiving the CoachâÂÂs Award. Bridget has been a member of Key Club for all four years serving as a Board of Director and then Secretary her senior year. She has tutored at the Wentworth Homework Club for the past two years. Bridget has also been a member of the St. Max Youth Ministry, Tennis team, Model UN, Ski team, and National Honor Society. Bridget has received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Easter Seals Angels of Change Award, People to People Student Ambassador, and Maine Catholic Diocese St. Timothy Award. Bridget will be attending Occidental College in Los Angeles in the fall majoring in International Relations.
Orin James is the son of Donna Greenwood and Nat James. Orin co-captained both the indoor and outdoor track teams his senior year, leading the indoor team to a state title. Awards that Orin has most notably received in high school include Most Valuable Player for Indoor Track Team 2011, and two National Latin Exam gold medals. Orin James will be attending Bowdoin College in the fall.
Eric Johnson is the son of Glenn P. Johnson. During all four years of high school, he was a mentor to students in the Wentworth Technology Club, and played trumpet in Wind Ensemble his sophomore through senior year. He attended the University of Southern Maine his senior year, completing junior-level French classes. Eric will attend Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall, studying chemical engineering in their honors program.
Dennis Liu, son of Jiayou Liu and Kim Chen, played football throughout high school, was a captain and Defensive MVP of the 2011 football team, a recipient of Scholar-Athlete Award from Maine Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. He also played tennis and ran track for four years. He volunteered with Animal Refuge League and participated in RYLA. He will attend Bowdoin College, where he will continue to play football
Stephanie Karwacki is the daughter of John and Linda Karwacki. Stephanie played flute in ScarboroughâÂÂs band program all four years. During her senior year, she participated in the Maine District Honors Festival. While in high school, Stephanie was awarded with a Wellesley College Book Award and an honorable mention in the WomenâÂÂs Literary Union 2010 Youth Council Writing Contest. Stephanie will be attending Franklin & Marshall College in the fall.
Mackenzie Libbey is the daughter of Nancy and Robert Libbey. Mackenzie was a member of Key Club and the Civil Rights Club throughout high school, and she has been dancing at Casco Bay Movers Dance Studio for fourteen years. Mackenzie has been dedicated to community service throughout her 4 years at SHS and has spent her senior year volunteering at Pleasant Hill School. Mackenzie received the Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award for Excellence in the Humanities from the University of Rochester her junior year. Mackenzie will be attending Mount Holyoke College in the fall.
Will Lynch is the son of Sheila and David Lynch. Will participated in Football, Indoor Track, and Lacrosse all four years of high school, earning captaincy in all three sports. On top of that, Will made 1st Team All-Conference during his senior football season. Throughout his entire high school career will made the honor roll ever semester, and earned the high honor roll all but one semester. Will plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the fall.
Madeline Perretti is the daughter of Dorothy and Earl Perretti. Madeline is a transfer student and at her previous school was the treasurer of her freshman class and vice president of her sophomore class. She also participated in field hockey, Dance Company and several clubs throughout her high school career. Madeline has been a member of the National Honor Society since her junior year. She has received three service awards for her community service work. Madeline will be attending University of New Hampshire in the fall
Kevin Philbrick is the son of Robert Philbrick. Kevin is a member of the National Honor Society and Natural Helpers. He is a St. Lawrence Book award recipient. He is a four year participant in the soccer, basketball and baseball programs. He captained the soccer and basketball teams his senior year. Kevin was on the SMAA All Academic soccer team and first team All Conference. He was selected to the McDonald's All State Academic basketball team. Kevin will be attending Colby College in the fall.
Alison Reynolds is the daughter of Felicity Kerr and David Reynolds. Alison has been involved with Girl Scouting, the Gym Dandies and volunteer opportunities throughout high school. For four years, she has participated as both a rower and coxswain for Waynflete School and the Yarmouth Rowing Club and has been a varsity swimmer for Scarborough High School, and was a co-captain her senior year. Outside of school, Alison has worked as a summer camp counselor, ski instructor and a cheesemonger. Alison will be attending Haverford College in the Fall.
Peter Rizzi is the son of Charles Rizzi and Barbara Biber. Peter played soccer for all four years of high school and was a co-captain in his senior year. He has received the honors of All-Academic and All- Conference for the SMAA and made the All-State team for the state of Maine. He also received the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science award in his junior year. Peter will be attending George Mason University in the fall.
Andrew Talbot is the son of Peter and Lorraine Talbot. Andrew was a member of the Outing Club, Yearbook and Sports Editor of Stormwatch, the student-run newspaper. During all four years of high school, he participated in the ice hockey and tennis programs, serving as co-captain of both teams his senior year. Andrew was the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Association of MaineâÂÂs award as a junior and the Maine High School Hockey Invitational Scholarship as a senior. Andrew will be attending Harvard College in the Fall
Abigail (Abby) Van Note is the daughter of Eric and Margaret Van Note. Abby was the President and Vice President during her four years in Key Club and the Lieutenant Governor of Division Six of the New England District as a senior. She served as treasurer of National Honor Society, a Student Council representative and the student representative to the School Board. During all four years in high school she lettered for the Girls Varsity Soccer Team. Abby has received the CoachâÂÂs Award for soccer as a senior, the Clarkson University High School Leadership Award her junior year and was Scarborough High SchoolâÂÂs Representative to the Maine Youth Leadership Seminar as a sophomore. Abby will be studying genetics at the University of New Hampshire next year.
Hannah Yerxa is the daughter of Peter Yerxa and Carol Sulides-Yerxa. She was a member of the softball team for three years and a member of the swimming and diving Team all four years, serving as dive team captain her junior and senior years. Hannah has been a weekly volunteer at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital for two years. Honors that Hannah received in high school include being named a National Merit Commended Student and a Presidential Scholar Candidate. She will attend the Honors College at the University of Connecticut in the fall.
