Mill Street Dam Removal in Lisbon - Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal | of | Share this photo

Workers from Linkel construction of Topsham work on removing the Mill Street Dam in Lisbon while leaving natural pools to act as fish ladders in hopes that salmon will once again return to the river.  It is the first in a series of projects that are looking at removing other dams upriver.  According to Judd Newcomb, Project Manager at Credere Associates, LLC,  his company was contracted by the Maine DEP to remove contaminated sediment from behind the dam, and to remove the dam itself as the Maine DEP partnered with Maine DMR to get the project completed and create a fish passage. Credere Associates, LLC subcontracted NRC to dispose of the contaminated sediment and Linkel Construction to perform the dam removal.
