Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a license checkpoint Wednesday night on Route 100 in Gray which led to the arrest of two men charged with driving despite being habitual offenders.
Deputies checked 203 motorists to verify that they had a valid license. Two of those operators, Wayne Addison, 53 of Portland and Richard McClain, 39 of Dayton, were charged with not having a valid license because they are habitual offenders, the sheriff’s office said.
The checkpoint was funded with a Maine Bureau of Highway Safety grant.
