ORONO — An Atlanta-based call center operator plans to create 200 jobs in Orono, bringing employment at the location to 600 by December or January.

NexxLinx, which acquired Microdyne Outsourcing last winter, already has added 150 employees since taking over the facility and plans to add another 200 jobs.

NexxLinx provides customer support by phone, online chat and email for companies including Time Warner Cable, Reader’s Digest, The Golf Channel and video game maker Electronic Arts. The company says employees in the call center make between $9 and $15 per hour.

The company hopes to have most of its 200 new jobs filled within the next month or two and hopes to employ 1,000 workers by the middle of next year.
