Kevin Ford demonstrates sheep shearing with non-electric hand shears during a workshop at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village in New Gloucester on Friday. Ford is a renowned blade shearer from Massachusetts who has studied blade shearing in New Zealand. The workshop was organized by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and the Maine Sheep Breeders Association. Two other sheep-shearing classes are being offered next month – on April 21 in Windham and April 28 in Littleton.
