YORK — The Labor Day forecast calls for a lot of traffic and some wit and wisdom from the Farmers’ Almanac on the Maine Turnpike.
The Maine Turnpike Authority has teamed up with editors of the almanac to produce a special promotional edition that’ll be handed out to motorists exiting the state on Monday.
Spokesman Dan Morin says Miles the Moose, a man dressed in a moose costume, and turnpike staff plan to hand out thousands of copies at the York Toll Plaza.
The almanac made headlines last week with its prediction of a cold winter and a stormy Super Bowl.
The turnpike has a prediction itself: Lots of motorists on the toll road. Last year, more than 985,000 toll transactions occurred on the Maine Turnpike over the Labor Day weekend.
