Portland Pie Co., the Portland-based specialty pizza restaurant, intends to expand to Biddeford.

The company expects to open its newest restaurant by the end of the year in the Pepperell Mill building, near the Banded Horn, The Yard, Impact Fitness and Hyperlite Mountain Gear, according to a news release from the company.

Portland Pie Co. currently operates in three Maine locations – Portland, Westbrook and Scarborough – as well as in two locations in New Hampshire and one in Massachusetts.

The Biddeford location will seat about 130 in a 5,300-square-foot setting. It will provide about 50 jobs.

“There’s such a positive buzz surrounding the development in Biddeford and we’re excited to be a part of that,” Nat Getchell, company co-founder and president, said in the release.

“Establishing restaurants in downtown locations, creating lasting ties to the community and rehabilitating historic properties is part of Portland Pie Co.’s core mission and we’re thrilled to bring that effort to the city of Biddeford.”
