Incoming City Manager Jim Bennett announced Wednesday that he will be in Biddeford this weekend to meet with residents.

Bennett, who will begin his job as city manager in mid-August, said he is holding the first of his informal “Coffee with the City Manager” sessions so he can meet local residents and business owners. Bennett and Mayor Alan Casavant will be at Biscuits and Co. on Alfred Street from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

“Over the last few years, I have made myself available for citizens to visit a couple of times during the year in a setting outside of City Hall,” Bennett said. “I am looking forward to meeting with people that are part of the community that my family and I are moving to.”

The City Council hired Bennett last month to replace John Bubier, who retired from that position after 10 years. Bubier now works part-time for the city’s economic development office. Bennett, 54, currently is the town manager in Presque Isle and has nearly 30 years of experience in municipal government.
