A man in his mid-30s was taken to a hospital Monday evening after jumping off the Longley Bridge between Lewiston and Auburn.
Police officers had responded to a report of a man threatening to jump off the bridge.
As they were talking to him, he jumped, said Lewiston police Lt. Michael McGonagle.
The Auburn Fire Department responded with a rescue boat that brought him to shore.
The man, who police say was born in 1979, was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.
