PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Authorities say a New Hampshire state trooper who stopped a Rochester man for a vehicle violation wound up in a “significant struggle” with him.
Police say 43-year-old Douglas Gray was ultimately subdued by Trooper Andrew Frigon and officers who came to Frigon’s assistance at about 11:45 p.m. Thursday.
Police say Gray attempted to flee during a pat-down search and the struggled ensued, with Gray striking the trooper several times.
When police searched Gray after his arrest, they say they found about 25 grams of suspected heroin. He and a passenger, 22-year-old Nikole Coe of Rochester, were charged with drug possession.
Gray is also charged with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.
