A Windham man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Hollis, according to Maine State Police.

Edward Stanhope, 45, was operating a 2012 Harley-Davidson on Route 35, Center Road, about 11 p.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into a tree, state police said in a statement Sunday. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

State troopers said speed and alcohol were likely factors in the crash.

The Bureau of Highway Safety said this was the 11th motorcycle fatality of the year, one more than at the same time last year.
