ARUNDEL — A Portland man has been arrested in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident that took place Wednesday morning at an Arundel convenience store.

The York County Sheriff’s Office charged 23-year-old Timothy Nash of Portland with theft and assault.

Police said they received a report of a shoplifter inside the Big Apple store on Portland Road in Arundel.
When deputies arrived, they observed Nash leave the store and walk to the rear of the building.  The clerk told police that Nash had grabbed several food items valued at $13.50.

Nash was arrested a few moments later but as he was being placed in the cruiser, he kicked a deputy in the chest. Nash is being held at the York County Jail on $500 cash bail.
