Of Note: One of the world’s top marathoners, set course record (2:04:40) in winning 2011 London Marathon, running fourth fastest time at that distance.

Best 10K: 27:01

Of note: Former world record holder at 10K (27:01) and an Olympic bronze medalist, Kogo won the 2011 race in 27:47. Gained notice in April with his marathon debut, finishing second (2:10:27) at Boston Marathon.

Country: USA

Best 10K: 27:58

Of note: First time returning to Maine since recording his 10K PR while finishing fourth here in 2007 - the highest ever placing for an American man. Won silver at 2004 Olympics – the first American to medal in the marathon in 28 years – and was fourth last summer in the London Games.

Ryan Hall

Country: USA

Best 10K: 28:08 (track)

Of note: Two-time Olympian who won the U.S. Olympic trials in 2008 and holds the American record in the half marathon. Will be making his Beach to Beacon debut. Placed 10th in the marathon at the Beijing Olympics and recorded three top-four finishes at the Boston Marathon from 2009-2011. Won the Bay to Breakers 12K earlier this year.

Of note: An African cross country champion with track speed, taking silver in 1,500 meters at 2011 All-Africa Games.

Country: USA

Of note: One of the most decorated American distance runners over the past decade, she won bronze at the 2004 Olympics and holds the American record in the marathon and half marathon. She first broke Joan Benoit Samuelson’s 18-year-old American marathon record in 2003, then lowered the mark to 2:19:36 in 2006.

Best 10K: 31:57

Of note: Became the first Ethiopian woman to win Beach to Beacon in 2011, then was runner-up at the Boston Half Marathon and New York Mini 10K. Made her marathon debut at 2013 Dubai Marathon with fourth-place finish (2:24:30).
