Girls’ Roundup: Biddeford stops Marshwood in soccer

BIDDEFORD — Lexi Paquette scored in each half Wednesday to lead Biddeford to a 3-1 victory against Marshwood in an SMAA schoolgirl soccer game.

Paquette and Cassie Ellis scored in the first half as the Tigers (9-2-1) took a 2-0 lead. Sydney Jackman of Marshwood (9-3) scored off Megan McLean’s corner kick five minutes before the break.

Macie Morrrison made 13 saves for Marshwood. Anna Marie Seiler finished with 15 stops for Biddeford.

DEERING 6, MCAULEY 1: Edie Pallozzi scored three goals for visiting Deering (8-3-1) against McAuley (4-9) at Portland.

Alexis Elowitch, Megan Wells and Meghana Clere also scored for the Rams. Jordan Carr finished with 12 saves for McAuley. Leanne Downs had five for Deering.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 3, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 1: Alex Goodman scored three goals for Pine Tree Academy (8-2) against Greater Portland Christian (0-9) at Freeport.

Kyrie Austin scored for Greater Portland Christian.

CAPE ELIZABETH 2, YORK 0: Mary Perkins had eight saves as Cape Elizabeth (11-2-1) shut out the Wildcats (4-6-3) at York.

Mariah Deschino scored from a scramble with 15 minutes left in the first half and Kathryn Clark added a goal in the first minute of the second half.

Emma Rohrer finished with 10 saves for York.

CHEVERUS 4, NOBLE 0: Katie Gordon scored in each half and Anna Niedermeyer made nine saves to lead the Stags (3-7-2) past the Knights (0-12-1) at Portland.

Abby Goodrich added a goal and an assist, and Olivia Mull also scored.

Megan Bataran stopped 14 shots for Noble.

THORNTON ACADEMY 1, GORHAM 0: Haley DaGraca scored off a failed clearing attempt as the Trojans (10-1-1) edged the Rams (7-4) at Gorham.

Lexi Nason had 10 saves on 12 shots to secure the shutout. Emma Smith made eight saves on 13 shots for Gorham.

WELLS 1, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Kate Tufts made 10 saves on 17 shots to lead the Warriors (5-7-1) past the Patriots (7-5) at Gray.

Sophie Lamb scored with 10:50 remaining.

Zoe Adams made 13 saves on 22 shots for Gray-New Gloucester.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 1: Alexandra Wahlstrom scored her second goal of the game in the first minute of overtime to send the Panthers (7-4-2) past the Hawks (5-8) at South Hiram.

Melanie Regan assisted on the winner and Scout Fischman made 10 saves for NYA.

Kayla Brown scored for Sacopee Valley from Courtney Ryan after 10 minutes, but Wahlstrom tied it less than seven minutes later.

Madison Day stopped five shots for the Hawks.

MASSABESIC 5, BONNY EAGLE 0: Kym Hendrix had two goals and an assist as the Mustangs (5-5-1) beat Bonny Eagle (0-11-1) at Waterboro.

Alyssa Wardwell, Hannah Sleight and Emma Cost also scored, and Hannah Lundrigan had four saves to earn the shutout. Kelsey Parkin finished with 14 saves on 26 shots for the Scots.

FALMOUTH 1, KENNEBUNK 0: Taylor Russell scored an early goal from Julia Spugnardi and Adelaide Cooke needed one save to earn a shutout for the Yachtsmen (9-2-1) against the Rams (2-10-1) at Kennebunk.

Kyra Schwartzman made 35 saves for Kennebunk.

SANFORD 5, SOUTH PORTLAND 3: Morgan Fogg scored three goals as the Spartans (3-9) downed South Portland (1-10-1) at Sanford.

After Bridget Campbell gave the Red Riots the lead on a corner kick with 16:39 left in the first half, Fogg, Nichole LeBlanc and Vanessa Hodge scored in the final 15 minutes of the half to give the Spartans a 3-1 lead.
