Maine Milestones

The Huskies Blues, a bantam hockey team with players from Gorham, Westbrook, Windham, Scarborough, Biddeford, Buxton, Standish and Waterboro, finished their season by winning the Casco Bay Hockey Tournament, held March 22-24 at the University of New England.

The Blues went 4-0 in the tournament, with victories over Central Connecticut, the Casco Bay Flyers and Northfield, Vt., leading up to the championship game against Henniker, N.H. The Blues fell behind 2-0 in the final, then scored five straight goals to earn a 5-2 victory.

The Blues finished the season with a record of 21-9, including first-place finishes in the Southern Division of their MEAHA Bantam League and the Mid-Coast Classic Tournament in Rockport.

ANGELA SMALL BANCROFT of Paris finished first in the 40-44 age group and sixth overall among 625 amateur women in the Half Ironman 70.3 California triathlon held Saturday at Oceanside, Calif.

Bancroft completed the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run in 4 hours, 52 minutes and 45 seconds – winning her division by more than seven minutes.
