Maine Colleges: UMaine's Trimper collects 400th win as Black Bears sweep

BOWDOIN SWEEPS BATES: Katie Gately hit a two-run double in the opener and homered twice in Game 2 as the Polar Bears (23-9, 8-4 NESCAC) extended their winning streak to 12 with 9-1 and 9-4 victories over the Bobcats (7-14, 1-8) at Brunswick.

TRINITY SWEEPS COLBY: The visiting Bantams (11-16, 4-5 NESCAC) won the opener 7-1, then completed the sweep against the Mules (8-14, 2-7) with a 6-4 victory in 11 innings.

NHTI SWEEPS SMCC: Shannon Blanchard had two hits and a run scored for Southern Maine Community College (6-16, 6-8 YSCC) in the opener, and Yaritza Tejada did the same in Game 2, but the Seawolves lost twice to New Hampshire Tech (11-7, 11-2) at Concord, N.H., 11-9 and 3-2.

MEN'S LACROSSE

UNE 14, SALVE REGINA 9: Pat Wolfe scored five goals, and Nick Gross added four goals and an assist as the Nor'easters (11-4, 5-2 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Seahawks (6-9, 3-4) at Biddeford.

BOWDOIN 14, ENDICOTT 4: Billy Bergner scored four goals as the Polar Bears (8-5) downed the Gulls (10-5) at Brunswick.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 9, BATES 8: Pat Leary's goal with 2:37 remaining lifted the Camels (10-3, 7-2 NESCAC) over the Bobcats (6-6, 4-5) at New London, Conn.

Jack Allard had three goals and an assist for Bates.

MIDDLEBURY 16, COLBY 10: Greg McKillop and Ian Deveau each scored three goals for Colby (6-8, 2-7 NESCAC) in a loss to the Panthers (11-2, 7-7) at Middlebury, Vt.

NORWICH 9, ST. JOSEPH'S 4: Andrew Sullivan scored three goals for St. Joseph's (7-9, 6-3 GNAC) in a loss to the Cadets (8-3, 8-0) at Portland.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 16, USM 9: Kyle Baker and Kayle Hamilton each scored twice for the Huskies (5-9, 1-4 Little East) in a loss to the Warriors (6-7, 4-1) at Mansfield, Conn.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

USM 16, EASTERN CONNECTICUT STATE 10: Rosie Forster and Sarah Pelligrinelli each netted four goals to lead the Huskies (10-5, 4-0 Little East) past the Warriors (4-10, 2-3) at Gorham.

NORWICH 12, ST. JOSEPH'S 11: Grace Fitzpatrick of Falmouth scored her fifth goal of the game with 4:57 left to snap an 11-11 tie as the Cadets (5-7, 4-5 GNAC) edged the Monks (10-6, 6-3) at Northfield, Vt.

Anneka Adame finished with four goals and two assists for St. Joseph's.

UNE 21, SALVE REGINA 10: Hanna Tavella tied her career high with seven goals as the Nor'easters (6-8, 4-3 Commonwealth Coast) routed the Seahawks (2-11, 0-7) at Biddeford.

BOWDOIN 14, WHEATON 3: Mackenzie Schleicher scored five goals to power the Polar Bears (11-2) past the Lyons (10-6) at Norton, Mass.

MIDDLEBURY 14, COLBY 6: Lindsey McKenna scored four goals for Colby (10-3, 6-3 NESCAC) in a loss to the Panthers (12-1, 8-1) at Waterville.

BATES 9, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 8: Kelan McCann capped a 6-0 run with 5:28 left as the Bobcats (7-6, 4-5 NESCAC) rallied past the Camels (5-9, 1-8) at Lewiston.
