Boys Soccer

Coach: Mark Diaz (7th year)

How did last season end: Lost Western Maine final to Greely

Key veterans: Taylor Sabo, Derek Poulin and Mike Keenan

Key newcomers: We have a solid junior class.

Key concern: Maturity. We’re so inexperienced.

Coach’s outlook: If our juniors mature by midseason, we can get some things going. We hope that we can peak at the right time.

Field Hockey

Coach: Kerry Mariello (4th year)

Fall 2004 record: 8-6

How did last season end: Lost in the semi-final round against Bonny Eagle.

Key veterans: Senior captains Jessica Schoppee, Jessica Baker, Jessica Bolton and Brianne Lorom.

Key newcomers: Sarah Bonenfant

Key concern: Lost our goalkeepers from last year as well as a key stickhandler.

Coach’s outlook: I think this team is going to surprise some teams. They have a lot of experience and are hungry for another successful season. Scarborough field hockey made the playoffs for the first time ever last year, and knowing what it feels like to be a part of that these girls want to have that feeling again and even go further with that. Their experience, aggressiveness, and desire to win should be key factors in our success.

Golf

Coach: Mike Murphy (17th year)

Key concern: How we replace three starters from a very successful season in 2004.

Coach’s outlook: We have the potential to be a strong contender in the SMAA.

Fall 2004 record: 11-4

How did last season end: Second in regionals; fifth in state meet.

Chamberlain, Erin McElwain

Key concern: Development of the newcomers will have a major affect on the team’s success. With two of the top 10 runners in the state in class A, the younger runners battling for spots three to seven on the team will be exciting. The newcomers have a lot of potential. It is one of the best freshman classes I have had come out. We should be battling for top honors this year.

Coach’s outlook: The team has a goal of making it to the New Englands this season. The adjustment to the longer race is important for the younger races. There will be a lot of competition for spots three to five on the team and that competition should get them ready for the end of the season.

Boys Cross Country

Coach: Jim Harmon (8th year)

Fall 2004 record: Undefeated in the regular season.

How did last season end: Won regional and state championships.

Key veterans: Travis Griffin, Chris Harmon, Brecht Moulin, Ben Talbot, Tyler Nelson, Henry Prosack and Ethan McElwain

Key newcomers: Craig Robinson

Key concern: Bonny Eagle

Coach’s outlook: We have another strong team and we should be able to place in the top three in the state meet, (and obviously we’ll shoot to win).

Football

Coach: Eric Klein (3rd year)

Fall 2004 record: 2-6

Key veterans: Andy McNaughton, RB/DB; Matt Wahere, TE/DL; Rob Wohltjen, OL/DL; Tucker Gorman, OL/DL

Key newcomers: Billy McHugh, RB/DB; Ben Reichl, K; Brendan LeBlanc, RB/LB; Adam Cardinal, OL/DL; Jason Quirk, RB/DB; Spencer Murray, QB/DB

Key concern: Like any football coach, I’m hoping to stay healthy. Also, execution is a key.

Coach’s outlook: Our numbers are up and that has helped tremendously. We’re small, quick and scrappy. We have all new opponents, so that is another challenge. We’re hoping to make the playoffs, and anything less than 4-4 is a disappointment.

Volleyball

Coach: Jodi King (3rd year)

Fall 2004 record: 4-8

Key veterans: Ashley Bayley, Amy Crawford, Kim Stoddard, Steph Stoddard and Stacie Curneil

Key newcomers: Elise Pierce, Karen King, Katrina Curneil, Leah Paris, Amanda Bildeau, Kate Thomas and Sabrina Christian

Key concern: We’re so young and lack experience as a unit.

Coach’s outlook: We extremely young, with five sophomores and a freshman, but I feel like I could put any of them in and it wouldn’t hurt us. For a second year varsity program, we feel like we’ve made excellent progress. We are looking to make the playoffs.

Girls Soccer

Coach: Mike Farley (1st year)

Fall 2004 record: 14-1-1

How did last season end: Lost 1-0 to Greely in the Western Class A championship game

Key veterans: Bri Jordan, Liz Houle, Nikki Desjardins, Libby Brackett, Alex Hoy and Jaymie Coulston

Coach’s outlook: We’re going to see if we can keep the ball more than the other team. I think I’m going to give an identity to the team and a style of play that we’re going to be able to impose on other schools. I think we can certainly have a successful year if we’re all on the same page.
