WISCASSET — A Maine judge has handed down sentences for a man and woman accused in a stabbing that left one woman dead and another critically injured.

The judge today imposed a 55-year prison sentence on Earl “Buddy” Beiler and a 15-year prison sentence on Corina Durkee in the April 2009 knife attack that occurred when a burglary was interrupted in Waldoboro.

The two were accused of killing 27-year-old Rachel Grindal and trying to kill 32-year-old Tracy Neild. Beiler pleaded guilty to murder, and Durkee pleaded guilty to felony murder.

WCSH-TV says Neild, whose throat was cut, was in court for today’s sentencing. She has sued both Beiler and Durkee for damages in civil court.
