BANGOR — The double murder trial of 56-year-old Rory Holland continued today with testimony from a neighbor who tried to help the two shooting victims.

Biddeford resident and retired York County Sheriff employee Raymond “Tank” Moreau said he was watching TV at 1 a.m. June 30, 2009, when he heard gunshots outside his home.

Moreau recounted going outside and seeing the body of Derek Greene, 21, in a nearby driveway. He ran to try to help the man but said he found no signs of life.

Moreau said someone else yelled that another body was in the street, and Moreau said he found Gage Greene, 19, who was still breathing and showed some eye movement.

Moreau, who lived across the street from Gage Green and two doors down from Holland, then said Holland came to his front door and asked, “What’s going on?”

“I told him to go back inside,” Moreau told jurors.

Holland claims he shot the two men in self-defense.

He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted in the trial, which began Monday at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
