CASTINE – Phil Konopka threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores to lead Endicott to a 38-35 win over Maine Maritime in the New England Football Conference championship game Saturday.

The Gulls (9-2) twice battled back from 11-point deficits and got the winning touchdown on Mike Lane’s 5-yard run with 58 seconds left.

Jim Bower rushed for 245 yards and two touchdowns for Maine Maritime (8-2). The Mariners finished with 364 yards on the ground, breaking the NCAA Division III record for rushing yards in a season with 4,803.

Matt Rende added a 54-yard touchdown run and a 20-yard TD pass to Nate Duford, and Nic Bourassa scored on a 51-yard run.

BATES 28, HAMILTON 18: The Bobcats (2-6) limited Hamilton (1-7) to 20 yards rushing, and Andrew Kukesh had two interceptions and a fumble recovery as Bates won its season finale at Lewiston.

Kevin Helm had a career-high 18 tackles for Bates, and Will Taft recovered a fumble in the end zone to help the Bobcats pull away. Bates scored its first touchdown after recovering a blocked punt at the Hamilton 1.

Bates quarterbacks Ryan Katon and Trevor Smith each threw a touchdown pass. Katon’s 63-yard strike to John Squires gave the Bobcats a 14-12 lead early in the second quarter, and Smith connected with Teddy Downs for a 21-yard touchdown later in the quarter.

WILLIAMS 31, AMHERST 16: Pat Moffitt passed for 326 yards and three TDs to lead the Ephs (8-0) to a win in their 125th meeting with the Lord Jeffs (6-2), at Amherst, Mass.

BOSTON COLLEGE 21, DUKE 16: Chase Rettig threw two third-quarter TD passes, and the Eagles (5-5, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) made a late defensive stand to beat the Blue Devils (3-7, 1-5) at Durham, N.C.

PENN 34, HARVARD 14: Brandon Colavita carried 17 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns and the Quakers (8-1, 6-0 Ivy League) clinched at least a share of the Ivy League title with a win over the Crimson (6-3, 4-2) at Philadelphia.

DELAWARE 45, UMASS 27: Pat Devlin threw for four touchdowns and David Hayes rushed for 107 yards and a score, helping the visiting Blue Hens (9-1, 6-1 CAA) clinch at least a share of the conference title.

UNH 31, VILLANOVA 24: Brian McNally forced a fumble in the final minute as visiting New Hampshire (6-4, 4-3 CAA) held off Villanova (6-4, 4-3).

HOLY CROSS 37, LAFAYETTE 27: Ryan Taggart passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more to lead the Crusaders (5-5, 2-2 Patriot League) past the Leopards (2-8, 1-3) at Easton, Pa.
