SACO — A 50-year-old man who was found in his bathtub with multiple stab wounds early Friday morning is in critical condition, according to a nursing supervisor at Maine Medical Center.

Dale Berube, 50, was stabbed late Thursday night inside his apartment at 25 Thornton Ave. in Saco. A 911 call was received about 12:30 a.m. Friday morning requesting an ambulance for Berube. When rescue and Saco Police arrived, Berube was in his bathtub with several stab wounds. He was taken to Maine Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery.

State Police say Berube’s roommate, Pamela Young, 48, made the 911 call. She was interviewed by police and was released.

Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said Saturday that Young will likely be interviewed again. He said the incident is still under investigation.

“We are still trying to sort out exactly what happened,” McCausland said. “Hopefully his condition will improve enough so he can help us answer some questions.”
