BANGOR — Alanna Vose scored 18 points and third-ranked Medomak Valley held No. 2 John Bapst to five field goals in the second half as the Panthers advanced to the Eastern Class B girls’ basketball final with a 54-36 victory Wednesday afternoon at Bangor Auditorium.

With Medomak’s 6-foot-2 center, Ericka Christensen, on the bench after picking up her second foul early in the second quarter, Vose took charge for the Panthers, scoring eight straight points. Vose sank a 3-pointer to break a 17-17 tie, then followed with another basket before Mallory Conary drilled a 3-pointer to cap an 8-0 run.

Christensen and Vose combined for 12 points in the third quarter as the Panthers (18-2) extended their lead to 39-29. John Bapst (16-4) never got closer than 10 points in the fourth.

Christensen finished with 14 points despite sitting out much of the game because of foul trouble. Lindsay Ranquist added 10 points for the Panthers.

Abby Pyne paced John Bapst with 13 points. Taylor Edgecomb contributed 10 points.
