Volunteers are being sought to help survey hemlocks at Vaughan Woods State Park in South Berwick for the woolly adelgid invasive insect between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. March 9.
The survey, conducted by the Maine Forest Service, will look for the presence of the insect and determine the number of hemlocks trees in the park.
The woolly adelgid was first detected in the park last December. The survey will require phsycial stamina due to snow and weather conditions.
Volunteers are asked to register by 9 a.m. March 7. More information is available by calling Allison Kanoti at 287-3147 or by e-mail at allison.m.kanoti@maine.gov.
